“Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.”
― Charles H. Spurgeon

We all get anxious from time to time, it's the bodies way of keeping us careful and alert in anticipation of an event that we feel unsure or pressured about. Feeling this way is perfectly normal to an extent. However, people that struggle to control their anxiety can suffer from panic attacks, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorder. Constant anxiety can lead to other illnesses as the body fails to get the time it needs to 'recharge' the immune system.

Aside from the health issues attributed to anxiety it can also have negative effects in our social and work lives, such as nerves before a driving test or exams, nerves before a social gathering, or nerves before a meeting or interview at work. These negative feelings may have a negative effect on your performance, leading to certain failure of the task you were anxious about failing.

The amount of sessions a client needs will depend on the extremity of the clients anxiety and whether there are underlieing problems that need to be dealt with. The therapist and client will aim to discover and treat the cause of the anxiety while bring given coping strategies to help deal with the anxiety until the cause is discovered and dealt with. If you wish to talk about your anxiety please get in touch for your free consultation where we will talk about the problem and draw up a plan to deal with it.
