The International Association for the study of pain defines pain as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage".

What this phrase actually states is that physical pain ca be caused by physical or emotional issue's. Physical pain not brought on by a physical cause are called somatic syndromes. Their are many different somatic syndromes which include back pain and migraines. These somatic syndromes are very effectively dealt with through hypnosis, especially because they are issues of the mind rather than physical, meaning they can have an effect where usual medication may not.
So why do Human beings suffer pain, other than just to make us suffer. After all, it is a creation of our own mind and body, so what does it have to gain by making us suffer. Well pain is actually very neccessary in our lives. A look at studies on individuals who have a congenital insensitivity to pain (feel no pain) will show us that these individuals generally die quite young. This is thought to be because through pain our bodies learn to adapt. From the moment we are born we learn through pain, through pain caused by walking into walls and tables as a toddler we learn to adapt our navigation and learn to avoid hard solid or sharp edged objects. Later on in life we still adapt through pain, if something shocks us, we aren't likely to touch it again in a hurry.
Pain also watches over us while we are asleep, some individuals with the aforementioned insensitivity to pain grow up with deformed bones due to the way they have slept in their beds on a constant basis. This happens because their pain receptors fail to realise that they are sleeping in a hazardous style, whereas with other individuals the pain receptors would feel it and the body would subconsciously roll over into a more comfortable position. But perhaps. most importantly, pain tells us when something is wrong. If you've broken your leg, pain will let you know in no uncertain terms that not all is right with your leg.

But not all pain is needed. For example, back pain. Back pain can be caused by a number of causes, some physical, some emotional. However, doctors may rarely treat back pain because it is so hard to treat, generally a patient will be sent home with some strong pain killers and that will be that.
Now your body is just doing it's job. Not all appears right with your back, so your sensory receptors send pain signals to your brain which sends signals back telling it to feel pain. Which in turn causes the back pain. But if this back pain can't be treated, then it is worthless and could do with being switched off as it has no further benefit to the individual other than to cause them unneccessary pain.
This where hypnotherapy comes into it, through hypnotherapy it is possible to alter the brains perception of pain. While under hypnosis individuals can change the characteristics of their pain, they can increase or decrease it at will, they can even move it around their body if they wish, most importantly they can stop the pain they are suffering.
Now, I don't want you to think that dealing with pain is a simple click of the fingers. Pain can be one of the most complex disorders to deal with, and while it may take just a couple of sessions for some clients, it may take longer for others. However, a free initial consultation will aim to discover the main details of the pain as well as offering you any information you should require, this gives both he client and the therapist chance to analyse whether hypnotherapy is the right choice of therapy for you. Before therapy takes place you will need to have a signed doctors note stating that a proper diagnosis has been done on the patient and that he is happy for hypnotic pain management to take place on your condition. Without this doctors note, I cannot verify that you have had a proper diagnosis and I will be unable to do any sort of hypnotic pain management on you.
