psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a form of counselling referring to therapeutic treatment and is psychological in nature. Psychotherapy employs techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behaviour change aimed to improve the personal issues of a client or group. Psychotherapy often includes techniques to increase awareness and the capaity for self observation, change behaviour and cognition, and develop insight and empathy.

At New Age Therapy we use psychotherapy alongside hypnotherapy to establish root causes of problems, and to teach coping techniques to clients that need them, psychotherapy is also very useful when dealing with emotional issues. We also use psychotherapy on it's own with clients who wish to refrain from using hypnotherapy.

hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a powerful, in-depth, therapeutic approach that can be utilised in order to tackle even the most stubborn of psychological and physiological disorders. These can range from cases of minor low self-esteem or minimal anxiety to cases in which the client will have suffered the most intolerable and psychological disturbance.

In it's most basic form, Hypnotherapy addresses the subconscious through an hypnotic trance to determine the nature of the problem that is troubling the client, then the hypnotherapist induces a hypnotic state in the client to increase motivation and/or alter behaviour patterns to solve the problem.
For a more detailed introduction of hypnosis please view the ABOUT section.

counselling
Counselling is a type of talking therapy which involves talking about your problems while the therapist listens, asks open questions and gives important feedback. Counselling is similar to psychotherapy in that it deals with similar issues and problems. However, where psychotherapy employs tried and tested techniques to help clients, counselling is more focused on talking through issues and problems that the client may have until the client is ready to deal with the issues.

At New Age Therapy we utilise the three main schools of counselling: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic and Psychoanalysis. Unlike clinics and therapists that only focus on the one school, we dip in and out of the three schools, this allows us to pick the treatments that best suit our client, not what best suit the clinic.
At New Age Therapy we use counselling prior to hypnotherapy to help establish why a problem may exist and to discuss emotional issues. We also use counselling for couple's counselling.

our therapies
At New Age Therapy we aren't just limited to one type of therapy, to achieve the best results we can we use a combination of four main therapies which are detailed below. This means that if one type of therapy isn't suitable for a client then we can quickly switch to a different kind of therapy, although generally therapy for our clients will be a mixture of all four therapies to achieve the best results possible.

Amongst our four main therapies are many other smaller therapies such as guided effective imagery and the colour test which we also use to achieve best results with our clients. All in all, when you agree to therapy at New Age Therapy you're not just limited to one type of therapy like most clinics, instead you will have many therapies at your disposal to obtain the best and quickest results.

Behavioural Neuroscience (biological psychology)
Behavioural neuroscience is the use of biology to study physiological, genetic and developmental mechanisms in behaviour. This is done by investigating nerves, neurotransmitters, brain circuitry and the biological processes that underlie normal and abnormal behaviour. Almost everything that goes on within our bodies can be explained by behavioural neuroscience, whether it be physical issues such as dangers of blood pressure or dangers of smoking and drinking while pregnant to emotional and mental issues such as stress and past trauma.

At New Age Therapy we find ourselves unique to most hypnotherapy and psychotherapy clinics in that before we treat a client we first use behavioural neuroscience to explain the clients condition. We find it helps clients to be treated if they first understand why their body is doing what it's doing, we think it's wrong to just welcome a client in and get to work without first explaining what the problem is. How can a mind start to fix the problems it faces if it doesn't understand them first? We find this is a problem not just in therapy but in medicine overall, where people get diagnosed with a problem but aren't told why they have this problem, what it means, and how to get rid of it other than to take medicine, this means the patient is almost guarenteed to have repeat issues with the problem because they aren't told how to avoid it either.
